There is rest in the Rock

Watching the news reports about the dam collapse in the Mariana region, I was stunned to see pieces of walls that were once homes, and I remembered when the Master taught about foundations.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
— Matthew 7:24-25
Those words have never made as much sense to me as they have lately.
In the middle of the chaos, in the middle of the rain, in the middle of the storms, the Rock remains. The Rock is Christ, and Christ is the Word. And the Word is enough to hold us up. The Word is enough.
May the Word be my Rock.
May the Rock be my rest.
